We sing both a cappella (unaccompanied) and accompanied by piano or The Arkleston Chamber Ensemble. Our repertoire is wide and varied, in 4 or 8 parts, and may be modern liturgical, secular, historical (madrigals or operetta), from musical theatre or recent popular music.
The focus for our annual concert is normally chamber music by living composers, mixed with popular songs from past and present. However, The Arkleston Singers have also performed music ranging from Bach, Mozart and Vaughan Williams to Adèle, Leonard Cohen and Freddie Mercury.
Plans for our current 2021-22 season with Musical Director Marcus Kitchen can be seen here.
In addition to more standard works, we have also performed a number of premièresand commissioned several brand new works over the years.
“I like the fact that this small group performs a range of intimate music not normally sung by the larger orchestra-led choirs.” - EL (tenor)
